Multimodal Wildland Fire Smoke Detection

چکیده
Research has shown that climate change creates warmer temperatures and drier conditions, leading to longer wildfire seasons increased risks in the United States. These factors have, turn, led increases frequency, extent, severity of wildfires recent years. Given danger posed by wildland fires people, property, wildlife, environment, there is an urgent need provide tools for effective management. Early detection essential minimizing potentially catastrophic destruction. To end, this paper, we present our work on integrating multiple data sources into SmokeyNet, a deep learning model using spatiotemporal information detect smoke from fires. We Multimodal SmokeyNet Ensemble multimodal fire satellite-based detections, weather sensor measurements, optical camera images. An analysis provided compare these approaches baseline terms accuracy metrics, as well time-to-detect, which important early wildfires. Our results show incorporating improves performance numerically both F1 time-to-detect over with single source. With only few minutes, can be used automated notification wildfires, providing useful tool fight against destructive

Particle size-dependent radical generation from wildland fire smoke.
Firefighting, along with construction, mining and agriculture, ranks among the most dangerous occupations. In addition, the work environment of firefighters is unlike that of any other occupation, not only because of the obvious physical hazards but also due to the respiratory and systemic health hazards of smoke inhalation resulting from combustion. A significant amount of research has been de...
متن کاملAn Automatic Detection of the Fire Smoke Through Multispectral Images
One of the consequences of a fire is smoke. Occasionally, monitoring and detection of this smoke can be a solution to prevent occurrence or spreading a fire. On the other hand, due to the destructive effects of the smoke spreading on human health, measures can be taken to improve the level of health services by zoning and monitoring its expansion process. In this paper, an automated method is p...

Acknowledgments Firstly, I want to thank to my colleagues from DACSO. The help given by them always has been very useful. Thanks to Baker and Mónica for her participation in the experiments, and to Xiao for saving me when I was in a tight spot (talking in scientic terms). I also would like to thank to Ana Cortés and Tomàs Margalef for their corrections and guidance. Thank to Emilio Luque for hi...
متن کامل“smoke:” Characterization of Smoke Particulate for Spacecraft Fire Detection
INTRODUCTION The “Smoke” experiment is a flight definition investigation that seeks to increase our understanding of spacecraft fire detection through measurements of particulate size distributions of preignition smokes from typical spacecraft materials. Owing to the catastrophic risk posed by even a very small fire in a spacecraft, the design goal for spacecraft fire detection is to detect the...
متن کاملPine Regeneration Following Wildland Fire
Pine regeneration following wildland fire continues to be a serious problem across the western and southeastern U.S. Frequency of large wildfires has increased over the last several decades and restoration of these burned areas is a major problem confronting land managers. Prescribed fires are used primarily to reduce heavy fuel loads and secondarily to reduce competition or prepare sites for n...
